Your Questions Answered

Fresh Flower & Gifts

We understand that you may have questions before contacting us, so we have attempted to answer some of these questions in advance to put your mind at ease.

  • How long have your team been doing wedding flowers?

Amafloria launched back in 2018 although our founder has officially been arranging flowers since 2015 providing flowers for weddings and events. Our team has a wealth of experience from working in a variety of roles related to floral design, creative design, wedding, events, and theatrical stage design.

  • How would you describe your style?

We consider our style to be creative, colourful, romantic, vibrant, and overall theatrical.

We would describe our design approach as unique, which is what allows us to creative breath-taking florals that creative immersive floral experiences.

We love transforming an occasion using a theme and would say that is where our strengths lie in creating off the wall experiences for our clients.

We do work in more traditional floral styles offering classic, rustic, boho wedding florals however, we love working with clients who like us are wanting to create new and exciting floral adventures.

  • Where do you travel to?

Our flower studio is located in Rothley, a small village in Leicestershire, the heart of England.  We will gladly deliver your wedding flowers throughout the East Midlands and beyond.  We've been as far north as Manchester and as far south as Cambridge, and we've covered everything in between in the UK.

We love traveling so are willing to travel further afield too, a travel and accommodation fee for us and the team (if needed) will be quoted for as a separate invoice, in order to make everything you have clear.

  • When's the best time to start planning your wedding flowers and decor?

Flowers are a significantly important feature of your wedding; they set the mood and tone for the event and will be remembered for years to come. A good rule of thumb is to start planning your decorations once you have selected your venue. Your venue choice often impacts upon your decorations as they work in harmony to set your scene. So once your venue has been finalised let the creative part begin.

  • How far in advance should I book my wedding florist?

It’s never too early to get organized once you've decided on a date and location. As a boutique floral design company, we limit the number of events and weddings we do each season so that we can offer our clients the highest level of service and attention, and therefore our calendar books up quite quickly.

Contact us to about your event and check our availability for your wedding flowers.

  • Do I need to know what flowers I want?

It's helpful to have an idea of what you want for your wedding flowers, but it's not essential as we're here to help.

We only need the dates, location, and colour palette if you've decided on one (don't worry if you haven't) and we'll talk you through the rest with our floral design process.

For more details about our consultation services and how we work check out, our Floral Design Process page for more details.

  • I have an idea for my wedding flowers, but I am not really sure where to start?

We love it when clients have unique ideas, the best thing to do would be to schedule a wedding flower consultation with us.  You can do this by completing your details on the ‘Schedule a consult’ webpage or leaving us a voice note on ‘Whatsapp’

Once you have made contact, we will contact you to book you in for a consultation to discuss your ideas further.

  • I saw an amazing arrangement / concept online but you didn’t have anything similar on your website, can you still make it?

Absolutely.  Life is too short to do the same thing all the time and we love a challenge!

We love when clients throw unique ideas our way, from custom metal work sculptures to bespoke arrangements count us in!

  • Can you guarantee that the flowers that I want, or you have suggested, will be available for my wedding day.

As fresh flowers are a living product, there are occasions that a particular flower may not be available. Some flowers you see on blogs or Pinterest are not commercially available and some may only be available from someone’s garden.  This creates endless frustrations for all florists. We will, however, do our utmost best to source and supply you with the flowers of your choice (if they are in season of course), but we cannot be held responsible for not finding flowers that are not commercially available.  There could be a few unforeseen circumstances that hinder us from acquiring your choice of flowers such as bad weather that may negatively affect the quality or harvesting of flowers to local farmers who may not have the blooms at the correct stage of maturity on your date.

  • Do you provide ‘Mock-ups’?

Mock-ups are reserved for larger wedding and event that require more detailed construction and co-ordination with additional design details.

All mock-ups are priced at full retail value.

It is often difficult to create a mock-up for a wedding a few weeks or months in advance because the availability of flowers and foliage at the time of the wedding may differ.

We must work with living products and must work with Mother Nature provides us, so we'd rather work with a colour scheme and design style than try to replicate a previous arrangement with exact flower and stem counts.

We'd much rather you choose us as your floral designer because you admired the quality and style of our work, rather than limiting and holding us to a mock-up.

Instead, you could also use the money you would have spent on a mock-up to add more flowers to important areas of your wedding day.

  • Are you willing to travel for an on-site consultation?

Absolutely! Consultations on site will, however, incur travel & labour fees. The fees will be included in your quotation given before booking our services.  Site inspections will be completed once a booking fee has been paid.

  • Do you have a minimum spend?

Yes, as do most florists.  It is £1500 this wedding season. This may sound like a lot, but this will usually cover the personal flowers, top table flowers plus simple centrepieces.

  • How much should I budget for me wedding flowers?

Most couples have an idea of the overall budget for their wedding, but not necessarily how it is broken down. In general, we recommend the following percentages below based on your floral needs, wants, and desires.

10% - If you like flowers but feel they aren't going to be the focal point of your wedding decor, we recommend allocating 10% of your budget to flowers.  This should be enough for your personal flowers, flowers for your top table / ceremony table and a few simple centrepieces or entrance arrangements.

15% to 25% - If you like flowers and they're an important part of your day, or if you want more elaborate designs like archways, we recommend allocating 15% to 20% of your budget to flowers. This should be enough to include your personal flowers, flowers for your top table / ceremony table, table centrepieces, and possibly a feature piece such as a floral archway.

25% to 40% - If you really like flowers, want large floral arrangements or bespoke floral styling, we recommend allocating 25% to 40% of your budget towards flowers. This includes your personal flowers, ceremony flowers, reception flowers, and larger floral installations.

  • How are my wedding flower costs calculated? Why do you only have an average pricelist?

Wedding flower prices are determined by a variety of factors; most people believe that seasonality is the only factor that influences the price, but this is not the case.

The cost of your flowers is determined by the following factors: the type of flowers you prefer, whether they are available locally at the time or if they must be imported, the size and height of flower stems, the overall volume of flower heads, the colour, how close your wedding day is to a flower holiday (e.g. Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Easter, Christmas, or New Year), as well as the availability and supply demand throughout the year.

Another factor to consider is the bloom-to-leaf ratio and the size of the arrangements, which is the driving force behind making your florals look amazing.

Consumables such as wire, ribbon, technical items, and oasis must also be considered.  Not to mention the labour costs, which include ordering the flowers, conditioning them to look their best, and arranging the flowers AND, we haven't even discussed hire items, flower delivery, packaging, set up, or take down services.

As you can see, quoting for your wedding flowers is not as simple as most people believe, which is why we only provide indicative average prices on our website.

Rest assured that once we have a good idea of what you need, we will carefully construct a quote for your wedding flowers that takes all the above into account.

  • Do I need to know my budget before an initial consultation?

Ideally yes, being honest about your budget on the initial consultation will help us know what to recommend.

By taking your budget into consideration from the very beginning of the planning process, we can give you the best advice on how to place the flowers for maximum effect and what types of flowers will be the best value to achieve your desired look.

It will also help us to reflect your dreams and personality more accurately and it could save you a lot of heartache if you have big ideas, but your budget doesn’t quite meet the needs if your plans.

  • Do you offer wedding flower packages?

We do not offer specific wedding packages as we believe in tailoring each one of our weddings to the couples’ individual needs. Every single request is equally important to us, and we take pride in making your wishes come true, whether simple or challenging!

  • What is my booking fee for? And is it refundable?

Your booking fee secures your date in the Amafloria calendar.  It acts as a non-refundable deposit.  Once paid we will start to work on your wedding plans and designs.  The amount paid for the booking fee, will be deducted from your final bill.  We normally require a fee of £250 to secure your booking, on occasions for larger weddings the amount requested may be more.

As we only do a limited number of weddings per season once your wedding is booked with us, we will not only block out your day but often the days before and after depending upon the wedding’s requirements.  This often leads to us turning down work from other clients, so if you do cancel at a later stage, it’s not just a single day we have lost its often a couple of days that we may not be able to fill.

  • I want to use most foliage or foraged items for my wedding flowers, does that help lower the price?

We adore foliage, wild-looking flowers, pods, and berries because they provide a lovely natural look and can produce some amazing textures.

There are a few misconceptions about this topic, so let's clear them up.

The first is the idea that foraging items should be free.

We believe you are paying for the florist's knowledge of where to pick, which greenery will last and not wilt in your arrangements, the time it took to find those specific trees, shrubs, or flowers, doing water tests, travel fees, drive time, getting up at ridiculous hours of the morning to go and forage, prepare, and hydrate before you can start arranging.

Then there's the fact that foraging in the United Kingdom is illegal. Picking, uprooting, or destroying any wild plant without permission from the landowner or occupier is illegal in the United Kingdom under the 1968 Theft Act and the 1981 Wildlife and Countryside Act. Florists face hefty fines and can be prosecuted for foraging, so we don't offer this service unless we have family or friends who already have a specific type of tree, plant, or flower in their garden and are willing for us to collect some for you on their behalf.

The second misconception is that foliage arrangements will be less expensive.

This isn't always the case; to achieve a variety of textures, many different types of foliage are required, some of which are more expensive than others.  Seeded and berried foliage, for example (which adds texture and depth to foliage arrangements) can be 3 to 5 times more expensive than unseeded foliage.  Then there's the fact that all the other elements that go into creating the floral arrangement still take place, such as gathering the materials, conditioning, designing, arranging, creating, and delivering the items.

To cut a long story short, foraged items and predominately foliage arrangements will not reduce the cost of your wedding flowers.

  • I’ve had different quotes and some were a really cheap for the same items. How is that possible?

Everyone believes that weddings are a permit to print money, especially when it comes to flowers.  This isn’t true. They cost more than an everyday bouquet because of the extra work and extra care the florist must take.  If your wedding flowers go wrong, there’s no second chance as we can’t deliver a new bouquet the next day, as there is no next day.

You pay a premium for wedding flowers, due to all the additional care and attention that goes in to making your wedding flowers perfect. From ordering the best quality, collecting the flowers, conditioning flowers a few days before, designing, creating and delivering your flowers; it’s not as simple as picking up a bouquet from a supermarket. Plus, as flowers need to be ordered within a few days of your wedding, this often leads to lots of over time to ensure everything is completed in time for your special day.

Wedding florists will often order more flowers than is required in case mother nature plays nasty tricks of killing any flowers off between ordering and them being delivered to you.  They’ll also probably have to pay a premium price for flowers, especially if you have chosen a particular colour or flower variety.  During peak holidays flower choices often triple in price, yet your florist will also have likely quoted 6 to 9 months prior, so the chances are they have slightly overestimated to ensure they meet your design / concept needs.

There’s also the fact that no two floral designers are the same and everyone works differently.  So, two different florists may give you two wildly different prices for a statement bouquet image you have shown them.  Yet, if you were to purchase both for comparison purposes, the varieties of flowers, colours and bloom to foliage ratio may differ completely and that’s not even considering the floral designer adding their own creative style or flair to the arrangement.

Having said that, a professional florist will quote for what is required to make a decent living and do an excellent job.

So, if you do find someone willing to significantly undercut other quotes, we suggest you be very careful before committing and make sure you both know, what the deliverables are in advanced.

  • What delivery options are there for my wedding flowers? and who will deliver my flowers?

We understand that every wedding is different, that’s why our intimate wedding flower services are designed around your needs.  We work with you to provide the best solution for delivering your wedding flowers.

We can drop off personal flowers the night before or give them off to you before your ceremony.

We deliver venue floral arrangements on the day directly to the venue, as we like to put your flowers out in the right position and most venues are not able to store your flowers overnight.

We always delivery our floral creations ourselves, to ensure that are cared for and safe during transit. If you have opted for larger onsite floral creations, then our team will be there overseeing any installations on the day.

  • How many wedding do you work on one day?

If you book us, you can be assured that we will only be working on your wedding that day.  We want to give our clients the best possible services for their special day, and we do not double book weddings to ensure we meet your needs.

For most of our weddings, especially larger ones with lots of set up we only take on one booking per week to ensure we can deliver everything to your standards.

  • Do you offer a clear down service?

Yes, we provide a discrete clean-up service following your event.

We will gladly collect any florals from your event the following day and assist you in repurposing them.  Removal of centrepieces, entrance arrangements, and dismantling structures are all options for takedown.  Along with dropping off the florals at a second location, you can turn them into gifts for your guests or spread some joy to a local care home or hospice. Simply let us know during your consultation that you require this service, and we'll arrange the best options for you.

  • Do you have availability for my wedding?

We do not publish our calendar out of respect for other clients, but if you send us a quick message via our website, email, or WhatsApp, we will gladly let you know if we can accommodate your special date.

  • I am interested in collaborating on a styled shoot with you, what do I need know before contacting you?

We adore styled shoots and understand how important collaboration is in the wedding industry.  We see it as a marketing tool, and we do one or two shoots per year that we fund ourselves.

Flowers, on the other hand, are expensive and getting more so by the year.  Flowers are perishable items that cannot be resold or reused after the shoot.  Flowers for a style shoot typically cost between £500 and £3000, not including our travel expenses, time spent planning, ordering flowers, and sourcing décor items.

When it comes to collaborating on style shoots, other service providers don't have such a large expense, and if they do, they're often able to re-use or re-sell their products and create something for a fraction of the cost of a florist's bill. We are happy to sponsor our time, and we will gladly supply you with flowers at cost price if we believe your vision for the shoot is in line with our brand.

Please contact us to share your ideas and we’ll get back to you with a quote.
